The Mandela Effect: Alternative Worlds Meet Here

 The Mandela Effect
 Alternative Worlds Meet Here

 Multiversal by R. Ayana

by Alanna Ketler

First things first: before beginning this article you may want to take this quiz to test your knowledge and memory introduce the concept of the Mandela Effect. Don’t be surprised if you come away feeling a little shaken up!

What if I told you that there are actually multiple different timelines and alternate realities all happening at the same time as this one, the one where your conscious awareness currently resides? What if I told you I could prove it, with the help of the Berenstain Bears?

Yes, those lovable little forest creatures from the memories of so many of our childhoods are still teaching us things today, but only if we’re able to see it — stick with me here. I have just discovered that the Berenstain Bears are part of a huge conspiracy theory that claims someone or something has actually gone back in time and altered history.

First of all, I need to ask you, does something look weird about the way I have spelled the Berenstain Bears? If it appears wrong to you, then you are not alone, because there are literally thousands of people, including myself, who fully remember and believe it is spelled like this: Berenstein Bears.

You may think, as many people do, well maybe they changed it, so what? But the fact of the matter is, it has never been changed, at least not according to history and in this current reality we are living in. The bears are named after the authors of the series — Stan and Jan Berenstain — who apparently have spelled their name like this all along.

So where does this leave the thousands of people who swear that they remember with perfect clarity the Berenstain bears being spelled with an ‘e’ instead of an ‘a’? Well, when I first read this I thought it was a bit strange, as I am one of those people who is 100% certain of the alternative spelling of the name, but I just figured it must have been changed, or somehow, as unlikely as it seems, I was simply wrong. This was until I learned about the Mandela Effect.

The Mandela Effect

This term comes from an instance where a woman named Fiona Broome specifically remembered details of Nelson Mandela passing away in prison in the 1980s and then finding out he was in fact still alive. Upon asking her peers and many others, she found that there was a large number of people who distinctly remember the death of Nelson Mandela, long before his eventual death in 2013.

These people swear that he had passed away and remember specific details about his funeral and even a speech given by his spouse. This initial realization is what started the Mandela phenomenon, as since the term was coined, many other different memories of past events have popped up.

This topic has gained a lot of attention on Reddit over the past few years, with many people weighing in on their various memories of how things were and even going so far as to provide proof of these anomalies wherever possible.

Examples of The Mandela Effect

The following are just a few of many examples of the Mandela Effect and are listed with the commonly remembered version of history first, then the correct  (at least in this time… and space) answer second:

  • Berenstein Bears / Berenstain Bears – Popular children’s book series and television show.
  • “Mirror, mirror on the wall…” / “Magic mirror on the wall…” – Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
  • “My Mama always said, life is like a box of chocolates.” / “My Mama always said life was like a box of chocolates.” – Forrest Gump
  • Sex In The City / Sex And The City – HBO television Show
  • There are 51 United States / There are actually only 50 States
  • The location of New Zealand and Sri Lanka being located on different places on the map
  • Fruit Loops / Froot Loops – Children’s cereal
  • “Luke, I am your father.” / “No, I am your father.” – Star Wars
  • ” And the lion shall lie down with the lamb.” / “And the Wolf shall lie down with the lamb.” – The Bible

Possible Explanations For The Mandela Effect

There are a few different explanations that attempt to prove this theory that literally involves the memories of thousands of people. Some say it is a theory of parallel universes, which could explain why so many people have vivid memories of the same thing but others do not. Another possible explanation is that somewhere, someone has been able to go back in time and alter the past, with some believing that perhaps there were bigger, more important reasons for going back in time, and the little anomalies that we see today are a byproduct of something bigger that was happening. Others have posited that someone, somewhere travelled back in time in order to change things ever so slightly, but enough to inadvertently change the death of Mandela and the spelling of the Berenstain Bears, which created a ripple effect causing a percentage of the population to remember these events differently.

In an interview with Vice, expert in false memories Dr. Henry L. Roediger offered his opinion on the subject, saying that people likely just remember the Berenstein Bears with the “ein” instead of “ain” because that is a much more common spelling, similar to Einstein, Frankenstein, and Goldstein. He says children could have easily mixed this up. My question to that is, how many children actually know how most last names are spelled? I remember reading these books as I was just learning to read.

Are They Really Alternate Timelines Or Just False Memories?

Well, that is up to you to decide. It depends on what’s more plausible to you. When I first started learning about this theory, I must say I was quite blown away by the examples that I was hearing, specifically the Berenst(a)ein Bears reference and the classic line from Star Wars, “Luke, I am your Father.” But in all honesty, what sounds more likely to you? That time travel has occurred, that the Earth is in fact split into two separate dimensions, or that a large group of the population just remembers some facts about certain pop culture things from the past differently?

I leave it up to you to decide!

Do you have examples of anything from the past that you remember differently from how it is portrayed now? Please share in the comments section below!

The Amazing Rise of the Mandela Effect!

Amazing Rise of the Mandela Effect! 2

By Cynthia Sue Larson

The Mandela Effect: When History Just Won’t Stay Put

The phrase “Mandela Effect” has been trending upward at an exponential rate since July 2015, according to Google Trends. Part of what is fueling the rapid increase in discussion about the Mandela Effect is that some of the reporters writing articles about the increased interest in this phenomena are experiencing it, too. One reporter noticed that an oft-remembered cheesy love sequence between two characters in the James Bond movie, Moonraker, no longer exists – despite his recollection (and mine) that “Dolly has braces”!

While many are surprised by the recent surge of interest in the “Mandela Effect,” those of us who have been researching and writing about this phenomenon of reality shifts and alternate histories have long been anticipating just such a rise of interest.

What is the Mandela Effect?

The “Mandela Effect” is named after South African anti-apartheid revolutionary Nelson Mandela, who became a topic of interest in the year 2010 by people noticing with surprise that he was alive at that time – since many people remembered him having died while incarcerated. I had published similar accounts of the dead being observed alive again in my 1999 book, Reality Shifts, and reported first-hand accounts on the RealityShifters website from people all around the world noticing many dead people alive again. Observations of dead people alive again are just one of many types of Mandela Effects, with other notable examples including changes to song lyrics, movie dialogue, movie scenes, physical geography, physiological anatomy, and product names.

The Mandela Effect is one of those things most people won’t believe in until it happens to them. Like falling in love or going through heartbreak, the Mandela Effect is something you have to experience in order to fully embrace. And even then, it often takes more than one or two experiences to break through the resistance most of us have to accepting the existence of something that fundamentally challenges our unspoken foundational assumption — that facts and historical events don’t change. This perceptual bias has been poetically expressed in the Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam:

“The moving finger writes; and, having writ, moves on:
nor all thy piety nor wit shall lure it back to cancel half a line,
nor all thy tears wash out a word of it.”

When we encounter evidence indicating that in fact, history has changed – it feels shocking to discover some of the lines have been canceled and washed out! We seem to be approaching ‘tipping point’ where it’s getting harder for scoffers to say there’s no such thing as the Mandela Effect / reality shifts / alternate histories. The term “Mandela Effect” originated with blogger Fiona Broome in 2010 after she attended a conference where many people talked with her about remembering how Nelson Mandela had died many years earlier – though official recorded history at that time indicated no such thing had actually occurred.

The Amazing Rise of the Mandela Effect! - Berenstein Berenstain BearsThanks to articles written by some Mandela Effect experiencers, the Mandela Effect shows evidence of increasing in popular awareness. Mandela Effect articles have been written by experiencers including the Lewiston Sun Journal’s Mark LaFlamme (“The Mandela Effect is Freaking Me Out”) who noticed a change on which side of his father he’s standing by in an old family photo; the New Zealand Herald’s Karl Puschmann (“Berenstein or Berenstain? The Riddle Making Book Lovers Mad”) who is certain the popular children’s books ought to be spelled “Berenstein” and not the way they’ve supposedly ‘always been spelled’ as Berenstain; and San Diego City Beat’s Tom Siebert (“Technology and Memory Down the Rabbit Hole”) who noticed a change to a memorable scene in a James Bond movie, Moonraker, in which the girl with the braces who fell in love with another character with shining teeth no longer has braces. I watched The James Bond film Moonraker several times while in college, and also remember the memorable scene in which the blonde girl named “Dolly” who wears glasses and braids shares a cheesy moment with Richard Kiels’ character, “Jaws”, when they notice how his shiny teeth complement the shiny braces on her teeth. Except now, she doesn’t have any braces on her teeth.

The Amazing Rise of the Mandela Effect! - Dolly without Braces - James Bond, Moonraker

Taken individually – the way such observations of discrepancies between what we remember and recorded historical evidence have always been noted up until now – a single person feeling unsettled by noticing such a change would have been chalked up to their having made some kind of cognitive error. But, when such “mis-remembered” recollections are considered collectively, we are presented with the possibility that we are witnessing collectively agreed-upon awareness of differently remembered historical facts that we can start to take notice of.

Some scoffers have leapt to the conclusion that Mandela Effect experiencers who are noticing long-familiar words in movies, TV shows, books, and products are most likely suddenly sharing ‘false memories’, due to the fact that human memories are not fully reliable. However such an explanation allows us to leave unquestioned some old assumptions that have quietly started to crumble at their very foundations since the advent of quantum physics just over a hundred years ago. While quantum physics shows us there can be no such thing as an objective observer, and now that two thirds of physicists recently surveyed agree that you and I and everything that exists does so in a superposition of states, we clearly need to revise both our scientific methodology and our assumptions about reality.

Superposition: The principle of superposition claims that while we do not know what the state of any object is, it is actually in all possible states simultaneously, as long as we don’t look to check. It is the measurement itself that causes the object to be limited to a single possibility. [source]

While I agree with the observation that human memories often do not match current historical records, it’s clear that stopping the thought process regarding the Mandela Effect at that point is premature, and does not match what we are learning about the primacy of quantum logic in the natural world.

I’ve been researching this phenomena since the 1990s. It was originally called “reality shifts”, and first appeared in print in the book “Future Memory” by PMH Atwater to describe common (yet strange) experiences that near-death experiencers frequently have. I have been reporting on individual recollections of alternate histories involving everything from changes in books, to dead people alive again, to changes in the way motor memory works since 1999, in the earliest edition of my first book on this subject, Reality Shifts: When Consciousness Changes the Physical World, and in my free monthly Realityshifters ezine. I’m currently pursuing this Mandela Effect / reality shift topic in interviews with experts in the fields of quantum biology (such as Johnjoe McFadden), quantum cognition (such as Jerome Busemeyer), and quantum cosmology (such as Yasunori Nomura) on my blog and “Living the Quantum Dream” radio show. What I’m noticing is that this phenomenon appears to not be new, but rather we have reached a point in society where for the first time we are able to share memories with others that are different from the collective whole – and sometimes our memories show the same kind of alternate pasts that physicists such as Stephen Hawking have told us exist.

When we consider the matter of “confabulation” and “false recollections” at this dawning of the new Quantum Age, we see that we may eventually call such things “alternate recollections,” in recognition of awareness of the fact that we know that each and every one of us exists in a superimposed state, with access to many possible alternate histories, presents, and futures. The idea that the many worlds of quantum physics might be one and the same as the multiverse has been proposed by such esteemed physicists as Dr. Yasunori Nomura and Dr. Raphael Bousso of UC Berkeley, and increasing numbers of scientists are feeling optimistic that we might yet find evidence that we indeed live in a multiverse.

Finding Evidence of Many Worlds in Alternate Histories

There is an exciting human side to the subject of alternate histories and parallel worlds. While we don’t yet have technology to show photos from your past with evidence of parallel universes impinging on the very fabric of reality since the day you were born, we can look to see what kinds of evidence we are able to collect more easily. If we were feeling the effects of parallel universes, we would expect to occasionally notice that history doesn’t stay put. Occasionally, we’d have very different ideas of what happened than we’ve had before, or than others have had before. What would such alternate histories be like?

Dr. Robert A. Burton recounts a fascinating experience in his book, “On Being Certain: Believing You Are Right Even When You’re Not”, of attending a medical school reunion dinner in which conversation turned to where people were when they heard the news that Kennedy was assassinated. Burton and his classmates had all been in their second year of medical school, attending similar classes and hanging out together. An argument broke out among the reunion attendees as a urologist thought they were all at lunch, an internist remembered they’d been in the lab, and a pathologist remembered being at a pub down the street from the med center. With classmates turning to Burton to be the tie-breaker, setting history straight, the pathologist and urologist both agreed on one thing as they announced in unison, “Everyone remembers the Kennedy assassination.”

If this was the first time such differences of memory related to significant events occurred, we might dismiss it as a humorous aside. But the fact of the matter is that researchers are increasingly becoming aware of what they call “false recollections.” With the advent of the Quantum Age, we may eventually call them “alternate recollections,” indicating awareness of the fact that we know that each and every one of us exists in a superimposed state, with access to many possible alternate histories, presents, and futures.

Final Launch of ChallengerUlric Neisser and Nicole Harsch conducted studies of Emory University students’ accuracy of recollections of events at the time of the Challenger space shuttle explosion, starting by collecting first-hand accounts from 106 students the day after the disaster detailing how they’d heard of the explosion, what they’d been doing at the time, where they were, and how they felt. The researchers followed up with the same students two and a half years later, and were startled to find that students achieved a mean score of 2.95 compared to a perfect score of 7. Less than 10% of the students were able to exactly match their original recollection of events, and over half of the students got a score less than 2.

The most noteworthy findings in this “flashbulb” memory study were student reactions when confronted with conflicting accounts. Many students persisted in confidently claiming that their current memories of events were completely accurate, even when confronted with their own hand-written journal entries. One student summed up what happened succinctly:

“That’s my handwriting, but that’s not what happened.”

It’s important to note that in this new Quantum Age, such cases of alternate histories are to be expected. They provide evidence of the superposition of states that we and everything around us exists within, so we can expect to occasionally see documented records from the past that differ from what we recall. In the Quantum Age, we understand that seeing our own handwritten notes that aren’t at all what we remember is one way that alternate histories become known.

Physicists Agree: You’re in a Superposition of States

When we understand that our belief structures are creations of our minds, we start noticing how varied individual belief structures can be from person to person. What one person considers to be realistic and matter-of-fact might seem outrageously peculiar to another. Even the idea that other people actually see images in their minds may seem outlandish to some people, let alone what those people see. When enough people shift their belief structures to look at the world in fresh, new ways, cultural paradigms shift.

Staying current with new scientific findings can help. While most non-physicists would likely see a solid physical object such as a table or a chair as only what it currently appears to be, a remarkable 2/3 majority of physicists interviewed in 2011 stated they believe that all objects can exist in superimposed states — much the way we know quantum ‘particles’ exist as energetic probabilities as much as physical particles we can measure and observe. University of Portland, Oregon, physics professor Maximilian Schlosshauer summarized this remarkable agreement thus:

“More than two-thirds believed that there is no fundamental limit to quantum theory — that it should be possible for objects, no matter how big, to be prepared in quantum superpositions like Schrodinger’s cat. So the era where quantum theory was associated only with the atomic realm appears finally over.”

A Scientific Basis for Instantaneous Adaptation in Stressful Times

The Amazing Rise of the Mandela Effect! - John Forster CairnsThe scientific assumption that organisms experienced random mutations was seriously shaken by Harvard professor John Forster Cairns 1988 proposal that the organisms themselves were preferentially producing beneficial mutations. Cairns conducted experiments with E. coli bacteria that demonstrated that in times of stress, when the bacteria were starved from food they were capable of digesting, they made “adaptive mutations” to be able to receive nutritive sustenance from a food source they’d never been able to consume before. This phenomenon in which E. coli mutated exactly the most optimal genes precisely when that mutation was required had no known basis nor explanation from established theories in genetics – and indeed seemed to contradict one of the central dogmas of molecular biology, that information only flows in one direction during transcription from DNA out to proteins to a cellular organism environment. John Cairns and Julie Overbaugh and others proposed a mechanism that what might be happening is that “the cell could produce a highly variable set of mRNA molecules and then reverse-transcribe the one that made the best protein.”

If reverse-engineering mutations by bacteria in times of starvation so they can start digesting lactose sounds crazy, it might help to know there exists a similar proven case of successful quantum biological adaptation: photosynthesis. Those who expect modern human technology to be faster and more efficient than the rustic natural world are quite surprised to learn that our best photovoltaic cells are only 20% efficient, compared with photosynthesizing plants and bacteria that regularly achieve 95% efficiency rates for transforming sunlight into energy. Plants have existed on Earth for millions of years, so it’s not too surprising to find that their natural process of photosynthesis likely utilizes quantum coherence to speed things up. In decades past, scientists believed that excited electrons carried energy randomly through photosynthetic systems in plants, hopping from one molecule to the next. More modern measurements of energy in the new field of quantum biology studying photosynthesizing plants indicates something much more efficient is going on. What appears to be happening is that electrons take advantage of the fact that energy can move not just in the material form, but in pure energy form, too, and entire systems of molecules can become entangled to allow the formation of a coherent wave that tries out different pathways simultaneously, until the most efficient route is very quickly determined. The quantum magic happens in each of a photosynthetic cell’s millions of antenna proteins that are surprisingly efficient and robust at routing energy with very little lost in transit.

University of Toronto biophysicist Greg Scholes published his findings of room-temperature quantum coherence behavior in common marine algae in Nature. Scholes describes an analogy of driving home through rush hour traffic to explain what these cells are doing:

“… you have three ways of driving home through rush hour traffic. On any given day, you take only one. You don’t know if the other routes would be quicker or slower. But in quantum mechanics, you can take all three of these routes simultaneously. You don’t specify where you are until you arrive, so you always choose the quickest route.”

Advantages of experiencing alternate realities

The Amazing Rise of the Mandela Effect! - Alternate RealitiesMy point is that everyone is experiencing reality shifts that usually get brushed aside with the assumption (in most social settings) being that there has been confusion or misperception, with both parties assuming the other has made some kind of mental mistake. The reason I raise the topic of flashbulb memories in my book, Quantum Jumps, is to share the extraordinary findings of those researchers who asked college freshmen to record their hand-written accounts of the event, then recall it some time later. Thanks to this research and stunning placebo effect results, we now have an opportunity to acknowledge that rather than explaining such reality shifts away as ‘memory lapses’ or confusion, we have always been witnessing the way quantum phenomena occurs at ALL levels of reality, and not only below the so-called “von Neumann cut.” I have a sense that research in these fields is about to lead us to a new level of awareness that facts can change – yet understanding of our true identity as being consciousness can help us best find our way forward in experiencing various possible realities.

What Would You Notice if You’re in a Superposition of States?

What would it feel like to exist in a superposition of states? How could you tell? You might notice things like: markedly different childhood memories from your siblings; spontaneous or speedy healing from illness or injury; different movie dialogue, writing in books, product names, song lyrics, TV shows, and celebrities alive again after being reported dead. In fact, this is precisely what people are reporting with such commonly recognized examples as:

The Amazing Rise of the Mandela Effect! - Forrest Gump - Life IS WAS like a box of chocolates“Berenstein Bears vs. Berenstain Bears (children’s book)

The Queen from Snow White says “Mirror mirror on the wall” vs. “Magic mirror on the wall”. (from Snow White)

Mr. Rogers sings “It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood” vs. “It’s a beautiful day in this neighborhood”. (from Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood)

Darth Vader says to Luke Skywalker, “Luke, I am your father” vs. “No, I am your father”. (from Star Wars)

Forrest Gump says “Mama always said, ‘Life is like a box of chocolates’” vs. “Mama always said, ‘Life was like a box of chocolates’.” (from Forrest Gump)

We’re going to need a bigger boat” vs. “You’re going to need a bigger boat”. (from Jaws)

Mandela Effect Reports on the Rise

In addition to some of these commonly reported shared experiences of alternate histories, some people are also remembering other things differently, such as: “If you build it, they will come” instead of now, “If you build it, he will come” (from Field of Dreams) and “Jiffy” peanut butter instead of “Jif.” As increasing numbers of honest reporters and authors start running into their own experiences with the Mandela Effect – both the private experiences that only they recognize, and the more publicly shared varieties – we will continue the growing conversation about the Mandela Effect, and why increasing numbers of people are noticing it now.

And in the meantime, I recommend that you keep asking “How good can it get?” to harness imagination and your ability to provide yourself with self-guidance from your highest levels of consciousness. Asking this question helps ensure we are honoring a longer-term, fuller and more harmoniously interconnected optimal experience. We can trust our highest, largest, most comprehensive levels of consciousness, and in so doing we will continue to experience different pasts and instantaneous transformations as we move through these stressful times to more optimal realities.

BEWARE of die GLOCKE: NAZI “Wonder Weapon” in the Sky

BEWARE of die GLOCKE
NAZI “Wonder Weapon” in the Sky

naziufo

By Sean Casteel

DID NORDIC-LOOKING STAR PEOPLE PROVIDE the GERMANS WITH PLANS for a REVOLUTIONARY TIME TRAVEL DEVICE?

“We cannot take credit for our record advancements in certain scientific fields alone; we have been helped by the people of other worlds . . . We should think of the craft in the New Mexico desert as more of a time machine than a space craft.”

Professor Hermann Oberth, Nazi Father of Rocketry

“When WWII ended, the Germans had several radical types of aircraft and guided missiles under development. The majority were in the most preliminary stages, but they were the only known craft that could even approach the performance of objects reported to UFO observers.”

-      Captain Edward J. Ruppelt, USAF Project Blue Book
* * * * *

groundzeroOn a recent a recent airing of “Ground Zero,” a nationally-syndicated, conspiracy-focused program heard in the U.S. on the I Heart Radio Network, researchers Tim Beckley and Tim Swartz shocked bombastic host Clyde Lewis and his thousands of listeners by declaring that NOT ALL unidentified flying objects originate from the stars. Some may have been developed here on Earth by a group of Nazi earthling scientists who were working in collaboration with a group of Nordic-looking extraterrestrials channeling information to the German nationalists as far back as 1919.

This, say Beckley and Swartz, is partially the reason why there is no “Disclosure” in our future, because of fear that the American military would have to admit they have known about these “wonder weapons” in our sky ever since thousands of Nazi scientists and engineers were “legally” ushered into the United States under the highly classified “Operation Paperclip” program, which exonerated them from their war crimes, while many hundreds of other Nazis were executed or fled from the Fatherland.

nazi time travel coverThe new book, “Nazi UFO Time Travelers: Do We Owe The Future To The Fuhrer?” is guaranteed to stir up a hornet’s nest of controversy.

While admittedly a sensational hypothesis, Beckley and Swartz, in collaboration with several other investigators, lay out their complex concept in a just released book, “Nazi UFO Time Travelers: Do We Owe The Future To The Fuhrer?” published by the Conspiracy Journal, an imprint of Beckley’s Global Communications paranormal publishing complex. For over half a century, Beckley and his writers have taken on just about every conceivable topic related to UFOs and Fortean phenomena. The iconoclastic Beckley and Swartz, who also co-host a weekly podcast, Exploring The Bizarre on KCORradio.com, produced “Nazi UFO Time Travelers” with the added assistance of “Phenomena Magazine” editor Brian Allan from the UK and, in the interest of full disclosure, myself.

At the outset we should explain that we in no way intended to glorify the Third Reich. In some instances, others have used the Nazi UFO theory as a springboard to promote pro-Nazi propaganda, which was the farthest thing from our minds. But, in all honesty, this complex theory needs to be bought to the attention of others who refuse to examine any of the evidence, evidence which indicates that we could be dealing with a number of explanations for the UFO phenomenon all rolled up into one. But the uppermost concern here is the acknowledgement that some of the craft we have been seeing in our skies could have been manufactured in underground bunkers somewhere in Germany during various phases of the Second World War. And if, indeed, some of these craft can travel through time, well, then some of the older sightings of “wonder weapons” could be attributed to highly advanced, Germanic technology.

NAZIUFO-BELL-570
Die Glocke – “The Bell”

As Beckley explains the matter in the book’s opening chapter, “Beyond the mere ability to fly what may still seem like technologically ‘miraculous’ aircraft is the haunting, troublesome possibility that the ships also function as time machines, bringing the ability to travel in time within human reach for the first time in recorded history. Devices like Die Glocke (translated as ‘The Bell’) may have been used to bend both space and time and give the Nazis the unthinkable power to explore the past freely and even to CONTROL THE FUTURE.

Are we plummeting headlong toward a world under fascist domination – a nightmare in which grinning, sadistic, jackbooted thugs are waiting for us to ‘catch up’ in time with our own predestined subjugation to open worldwide rule by the Nazis, who are possibly hiding out on the surface of the moon or in ‘secret cities’ at the Poles? Do they lie in wait for us as the clock on our freedom runs down?”

ancient bell 2
At several archaeological sites, many bell- and saucer-shaped artifacts have been uncovered. Could this be proof of Nazi time travelers?

The concept is a little tricky, but it involves the idea that the Nazis were able to move into the future and exert total control once they got there. That concept does, of course, sound “fringe” on the surface. But, according to Beckley, we should not assume that the Nazis acted “alone” in achieving such a feat. They obviously had help from “Aryan Space Brothers” who seized an opportunity to use the fledgling Nazis to their own otherworldly ends. In other words, the aliens made building a time machine simple enough that mere humans, once properly instructed and provided with the raw materials, could accomplish the task sufficiently well in real-world terms.

What their motives were is open to dispute and debate. Some see the Aryan “Space Brothers” as friendly visitors from the future, while others wonder why they would want to share their secrets with a very negative group of earthbound scientists. Perhaps they were deceived by the attractive mediums who they thought they may have been related to. Or they could have simply lacked the information required to see their channels’ coming evil before sharing their technology.

maria_orsic
Maria Orsitsch, also known as Maria Orsic, was a famous medium who later became the leader of the Vril Society.

The history of Adolph Hitler and the Nazis has always included elements of their occult beliefs, but the new book goes back further in time, to the early 20th century, and the mediums associated with the Vril Society. The female mediums, referred to as true “Nordic beauties,” began to channel messages from extraterrestrials whose origin was many light years away. The messages included the technical

designs of advanced aircraft unheard of in their day in addition to a kind of “blueprint” for a time machine. Some years later, Hitler himself, along with several of his SS henchmen, came under the influence of the Vril Society as he began his rise to power in a Germany that was sick enough and corrupt enough to be mesmerized by his unchecked anti-Semitism and militaristic obsessions.

When combined with the high caliber of scientists the Nazis “recruited” to design weapons for the war effort, which included now-legendary names like Wernher von Braun and Hermann Oberth, the fact that they had alien “help” along the way makes some of their more exotic advances a little more plausible.

In fact, the scientists themselves talked openly about this alien help.

The father of rocketry, Professor Hermann Oberth, said the space program was being helped by “Them.”

“We cannot take credit for our record advancements in certain scientific fields alone; we have been helped by the people of other worlds . . . We should think of the craft in the New Mexico desert as more of a time machine than a spacecraft.”

So said Professor Hermann Oberth, one of the early fathers of rocketry and the mentor to the young Wernher von Braun.

Meanwhile, von Braun himself stated in 1959 that: “We find ourselves faced by powers which are far stronger than we had hitherto assumed, and whose base of operations is at present unknown to us. More I cannot say at present. We are now engaged in entering into a closer contact with those powers, and in six or nine months’ time it may be possible to speak with more precision on the matter.”

While neither Oberth nor von Braun specify that they were aided in their efforts by Aryan Space Brothers, they are nevertheless surprisingly candid in what they DID say for public consumption. Their openness may have been part of some larger strategy to steer the belief in UFOs in the direction of the Extraterrestrial Hypothesis (or the “ETH” for short) and therefore away from a darker point of origin in the blueprints and designs of the Nazis. In the decades-long campaign of disinformation waged against the truth of the UFO phenomenon, Oberth and von Braun may have simply been firing another salvo of confusion and subterfuge. Or were they simply being sincere in reflecting on their own invention processes? Was there an undeniable alien presence working alongside them? Like most unanswered questions about the UFO phenomenon, the answers await their time.

Another fascinating thread of the story that Beckley holds fast to is this: In many alien abduction accounts, especially the early stories from the late 1950s and early 1960s, the UFO occupants are said to speak in German and to speak English with unmistakable German accents.

reinhold-schmidt02
On Oct. 5, 1957, 48-year-old Reinhold Schmidt said he stumbled across a spaceship when his car stalled near the Platte River in Kearney, Neb. Schmidt said he was invited inside to chat with the humanoid occupants – four men and two women, who spoke both English and German.

The new book quotes a well-known contactee named Reinhold Schmidt who encountered an alien ship in Kearney, Nebraska, in 1957. After accepting the flying saucer captain’s invitation to come onboard, Schmidt heard the captain and crew speaking to one another in “High German,” a dialect that Schmidt had been versed in by his parents from his youth up. Apparently unaware that Schmidt could understand them, the beings spoke to him with their Deutsche accents intact and made no effort to disguise their voices.

The 1961 abduction of New Hampshire couple Betty and Barney Hill is much better known than Schmidt’s, but, when studying their case, there is an often overlooked moment when Barney, as he undergoes regressive hypnosis with post-trauma specialist Dr. Benjamin Simon, begins to panic when one of his alien abductors takes on the appearance of a Nazi in full uniform. Was this a glimpse into the aliens’ “true” agenda? As an African-American in the early 1960s, Barney was certainly familiar with the oppressive fears that come from being a victim of racism. Did his unconscious mind somehow conjure the Nazi image as an expression of those fears? Or was it intended as a grim warning of future totalitarian domination?

The Nazis also cast a shadow over even the beginnings of the contactee movement in the 1950s. Many people will be familiar with the 1952 meeting between George Adamski and the androgynous, blond-haired, blue-eyed Aryan Space Brother who called himself Orthon. But one may not know that that first contact in the California desert was facilitated by Adamski’s associate, George Hunt Williamson, who worked out the time and location for the landing in the days before it took place by using an Ouija board to communicate with the Space Brothers. Williamson was himself associated with right wing extremist William Dudley Pelley, an American Nazi-sympathizer who had served time in jail for sedition and anti-government rabblerousing. While Williamson would later disavow that he held any racist beliefs at the time, he did serve in Pelley’s employ writing and editing pro-fascist pamphlets and magazines.

From an imprint left in the soft soil. Adamski’s space contact, known as Orthon, had the symbol of the swastika etched onto the sole of his space boots.

Admittedly, no one wants to give up the utopian hopes that accompany belief in the Space Brothers. But the fact that their physical appearance embodied the ideal of Aryan or Nordic “good looks” is not an easy one to ignore. In the case of the desert encounter between Adamski and Orthon, we have this to consider as well: the new book “Nazi UFO Time Travelers” offers a line drawing based on a plaster-of-Paris cast – taken at the site of the meeting – of the boot print of Orthon. One can easily discern a pair of swastikas engraved into the sole of the alien’s boot, leading one to consider the possibility that the visiting alien followed “on the heels,” so to speak, of the Nazis defeated some short few years before.

I think at this point we now have a clearer idea of just what Beckley is aiming for in “Nazi UFO Time Travelers.” When one combines these seemingly disparate events with one another, they coalesce into a picture of the possible: Aryan aliens who matched their advanced knowledge and technology with willing scientists bent on controlling the world, a kind of fifty-fifty split between extraterrestrial and human efforts that resulted in the flying saucer phenomenon as we know it today.

But there is still more. One of the most generally agreed upon historical aspects of the Nazis/UFO theory concerns an aircraft called “Die Glocke,” which is German for “The Bell.” It was believed to be a product of both alien guidance and the work of topflight scientists like the aforementioned von Braun and Oberth.

A mock-up of this purported airship is featured on the cover of “Nazi UFO Time Travelers,” and it is indeed a bell-shaped aircraft, although what kind of propulsion system could enable such an ungainly monstrosity to fly at mind-bending speeds remains unknown. The Bell is also said to contain the time travel apparatus that is so essential to the story, but which remains an even deeper mystery than what kind of fuel propelled it through the skies. Some contend that the propulsion system is based either in the long sought after antigravity energy or some manipulation of electronic principles which can be tapped into throughout the universe.

According to witnesses, the object that crashed near Kecksburg, Pennsylvania was acorn shaped, much like the descriptions of the Nazi Bell.

In 1965, in Kecksburg, Pennsylvania, numerous witnesses saw an unknown object crash in the woods outside town. Locals reported that some kind of government/military cleanup crew was on the scene nearly immediately, which indicates that the federal interlopers had been following the craft’s descent on radar. The witnesses say the object was put on the back of a flatbed truck under some kind of tarp covering and hurriedly hauled away. But it was still possible to discern that the clandestine cargo was a large, acorn-shaped object that could easily be said to have resembled the contours of the Nazis’ Bell. In fact, the similarity is so remarkable that one hesitates to conclude that it’s all a simple coincidence.

“Nazi UFO Time Travelers” also features a pair of chapters by Tim R. Swartz, who writes about a tangled trail of conspiracy and secrecy that involves pioneering inventor Nikola Tesla’s research being commandeered by Nazi spies in their desperate quest to develop weapons for defeating the Allies. Swartz also contributes several anecdotal accounts of ordinary people who have experienced time distortion, missing time and other similar anomalies while within close proximity to a UFO. Time does more than stand still at such moments, and Swartz gives some needed insight into how ordinary, non-Nazi witnesses also encounter a kind of time that dances outside our normal understanding.

Brian Allan

Brian Allan, a Scotsman of longstanding fame in the world of the paranormal, provides an introduction into the many elements of the Nazi/flying saucer theory that are essential to the reader’s understanding, a kind of primer in the basics. Allan’s writing is both caustic and amusing, which is treading a fine line when it comes to this kind of analysis of this heavy, some would say “grim,” subject.

So, with “Nazi UFO Time Travelers: Do We Owe The Future To The Fuhrer?,” a certain amount of license must be granted to the authors. While most UFO believers quite understandably like to ignore the links between flying saucers, alien abduction, Germanic origin stories and Nazi technology rumors, Beckley and his crew prefer to look these nightmarish ideas in the eye and report on them as objectively as possible.

Have we assembled a book of “inconvenient truths,” to paraphrase environmental activist and former vice-president Al Gore? It might be more accurate to say “frightening possibilities,” and then to commence praying for deliverance from a future world of high-tech Nazis leering at us from some beer garden around the next corner in time.
