UFOs and Nuclear Disasters

UFOs and Nuclear Disasters

by Lon Strickler

Are extraterrestrials - specifically, those supposed beings aboard UFOs - intervening during nuclear power plant disasters? There are reports of UFO sightings over the Chernobyl and Fukushima nuclear power plants prior (and after) to those respective calamities.

Those who believe in 'harbingers of disaster' may recall reports of large winged humanoids flying in the vicinity of these plants before the accidents. Some have suggested that Mothman was the portent, as the story goes in relation to the Silver Bride collapse of December 1967 in Point Pleasant, West Virginia. The Mothman has been reported to manifest prior to other mishaps as well.

Is it realistic to state that we are monitored by unknown beings...just in case we screw up?

One may ask, are these unknown entities transporting back from the future to correct the mistakes we made? Is it also possible that these time travelers are actually evolved humans...our decedents attempting to change a foreboding history?

In 2002, Pravda published an article UFO Prevents Blast at Chernobyl Nuclear Plant, which stated:

When troublesome events started to occur, some people saw a spaceship hovering above the fourth generating unit of the Chernobyl plant. Eyewitnesses say that an UFO was there for six hours and that hundreds of people saw it. People started writing about it only two years after the catastrophe. Of course, such information appeared in magazines on ufology. As it is generally believed, serious people don’t read such magazines and journals.

Here is what Mikhail Varitsky had to say: “I and other people from my team went to the site of the blast at night. We saw a ball of fire, and it was slowly flying in the sky. I think the ball was six or eight meters in diameter. Then, we saw two rays of crimson light stretching towards the fourth unit. The object was some 300 meters from the reactor. The event lasted for about three minutes. The lights of the object went out and it flew away in the northwestern direction.”

The UFO brought the radiation level down. The level was decreased almost four times. This probably prevented a nuclear blast.

Three years later (on September 16, 1989), the fourth power-generating unit emitted radiation into the atmosphere. Several hours later, a doctor saw an object in the sky above the Chernobyl plant. Doctor Gospina described it as “amber-like.” She said she could see the top and the bottom of it as well.

In October of 1990, a reporter from the newspaper the Echo of Chernobyl , V. Navran, was photographing the machine shop of the Chernobyl plant. “I photographed the top of it, including a part of the hole above. I remember everything very well; I did not see any UFO. However, when I developed the film, I clearly saw an object that was hovering above the hole in the roof.” The object looked like the one doctor Gospina saw.

There was also a NICAP report:

Chernobyl Exploded on 4/26/86 at 1:23 AM.

In reference to the possible UFO cause & effect relationship, in particular, Chernobyl:

On May 1, 1997, Jerry Washington wrote:

In response to Anders Liljegren assertion that "'the UFO phenomenon' was NOT out to check on that...No sightings in the affected area until more than a week after the nuclear crash," referring to the Chernobyl disaster, I offer this excerpt from Dr. Vladimir V. Rubtsov's lectures as published in MUFON's 1994 Symposium Proceedings:

"...about one month before the Chernobyl disaster I had a talk with an air traffic controller of the Kharkov airport. He told me that, according to pilots' reports, there was a rising number of UFO observations in the area of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Station (ChNPS). Later it became known that on the night of the fire in the ChNPS, some 3 hours after the explosion, a team of nuclear specialists saw in the sky over the station a fiery ball of the color of brass. The witnesses estimated its diameter as 6-8 meters and its distance from the burning nuclear reactor No. 4 as some 300 meters. Just before the observation these specialists measured the level of radiation in the place where they were standing. It was measured at 3000 milliroentgens per hour. 'Suddenly two bright rays of crimson color extended from the ball to the reactor... This lasted for some 3 minutes... The rays abruptly faded and the ball slowly floated away in a north-westerly direction, towards Byelorussia. Then we again looked at our radiation monitor. It displayed only 800 milliroentgens per hour...'"

Just thought you'd like to know.

UFO Casebook also collected statements from Ukrainians citizens in reference to the UFO sightings.

As far as the sightings over the Fukushima nuclear power plant, simply go to YouTube and watch the alleged video records of those UFOs. Also take a look at FACT or FICTION: Did A Japanese TV Crew Capture A UFO Above The Fukushima Nuclear Plants?

FACT or FICTION: Did A Japanese TV Crew Capture A UFO Above The Fukushima Nuclear Plants?

To watch this video on The 'X' Zone YouTube Channel - click on this link : www.xzonenews.com/japanufo.htm

Hamilton, Ontario: Alleged UFO sightings and alien interest in both earthquakes and nuclear plants have been questioned for years. The ‘X’ Zone Radio & TV Show has reported extensively on the supposed intense UFO activity in Japan before, during and after both the earthquake and the tsunami. So it comes as no surprise to the die-hard believers that a number of UFO sightings as well as film evidence of what believers believe to be alien activity around the damaged Fukushima Nuclear Plant have come to light.

The footage which can be at viewed www.xzonenews.com/japanufo.htm is highly questionable to those with two feet on the ground. The video footage which was allegedly taken by a Japanese TV Crew comes from a news report by German media group NDR.

At 55 seconds into the video clip, what some believe to be a giant UFO can be seen entering the frame and hovering above the nuclear plant. UFO “investigators” and “researchers” are touting this as a slip up on behalf of NDR and the Asian news outlet the group received the footage from.

Conspiracy theorists claim top secret government departments worldwide collude to censor out any clear and obvious proof of the alien activity that is occurring at all times on planet earth. UFOlogists claim that only news that fits in with the program the international UFO cover-up has initiated to slowly make people aware of an alien presence on Earth is allowed to reach the public via mainstream media outlets. Believers state this was either a slip-up or a leak and no doubt behind closed doors there will heated discussion over this footage that proves without doubt that aliens are here.

Once again, the link t The ‘X’ Zone Radio & TV Show Channel video of this alleged UFO sighting is at www.xzonenews.com/japanufo.htm.

UFOs over Chernobyl and Fukushima Nuclear Power Plants

by Doug Webber

There is a large body of evidence to cover concerning UFOs appearing near nuclear power plants and nuclear missile sites.  But for now I just want to focus on two cases which both involve a nuclear power plant disaster, threatening to release radioactivity into the air, threatening to kill people and destroy this planet.

A while ago I had seen reports of a UFO over Chernobyl, but I could not find a reliable source, nor video or pictures.  I put it aside for a while, but then I decided to see what the Russian news media said about it. The Chernobyl nuclear disaster was quite a disaster - if the fourth reactor exploded, it could have wiped out the population of much of Europe, and caused much sickness and birth deformities.  I found this from the Russian news site Pravda, UFO Prevents Blast at Chernobyl Nuclear Plant:

“I photographed the top of it, includomg a part of the hole above. I remember everything very well; I did not see any UFO. However, when I developed the film, I clearly saw an object that was hovering above the hole in the roof.” The object looked like the one doctor Gospina saw.

And there is this earlier 1997 report from NICAP:

I remember hearing the reports where there was quite a threat posed to Europe and much of Russia because of the disaster, and subsequently scientists were surprised as they thought the levels of radiation should have been much higher.  Is this indeed what happened?  Chase Brandon, a 35 year CIA veteran, has an item on this in his fictional book, The Cryptos Conundrum:

"...the Soviet Union's Chernobyl nuclear power plant in Ukraine experienced an extreme spike in power output that caused a reactor to rupture, which sparked a series of explosions and sent a plume of radioactive fallout into the atmosphere. The second happened yesterday when Ukraine military radar operators reported seven blips streaking back and forth above the burning plant. Ground observers described them as smudges of intense light moving erratically. In response to the presence of unidentified craft in Soviet airspace, the military launched ten MiG-29 fighter jets."

As with a fictional work, the info is absolutely useless, but offers a clue as to a disinformation motive for his work. He adds that the UFOs fired on the jets. In all the public reports I have seen, this never happens. They move out of the way to disengage as much as possible. For high speed planes, they will sometimes fly alongside them (there are radar reports alongside witness testimony from pilots on this issue). The disinformation here is that extraterrestrials pose some kind of threat - and he uses a reported event where they may have saved many lives. As with Ronald Reagan, I bet the only way the U.S. Government will ever admit to their existence is to push the story that they pose some kind of threat to humanity as propaganda for yet another war.

Although Chase Brandon publicly stated that he saw material that confirms the Roswell crash of a UFO in 1947 indeed happened, the official story of the CIA is that they have no records - and in the answer, gave a run around, showing that their official statement is not an answer. See CIA smacks down former employee.  And there is the usual accusation that this is done to promote the book. There is a similar kind of ad hominem attack against Steven Greer of the Disclosure Project which discusses his financials, and nothing about any of the explosive testimony he has gathered. So what if they make money?  They both deserve it. Its this thing called "supply and demand" - which is something that is a part of this strange economic theory called "capitalism."  My thoughts on the book, if I had worked 35 years at the CIA, and there were no UFOs or extraterrestrials, I certainly would not have chosen that as a plot line.

UPDATE (10/4/2014) MORE NEWS FROM UKRAINE ON THE UFOs OVER CHERNOBYL

"There are persistent stories in the Ukraine that the world was saved by UFOs" at the time of the Chernobyl disaster in 1986. "When the Chernobyl meltdown began to occur, witnesses saw a UFO hovering above the Fourth Generating Unit of the Chernobyl plant. The eyewitnesses say it was there for six hours and that hundreds of people saw it."

Eyewitness "Mikhail Veritsky says, 'I and other people from my (production) team went to the site of the blast that night. We saw a ball of fire, and it was slowly flying in the sky. I would say that the fireball was 6 to 8 meters (20 to 24 feet) in diameter.'"

"'There were two rays of crimson light stretching'" from the UFO "'towards the Fourth Generating Unit. The object was at least 300 meters (1,000 feet) from the reactor. The event lasted for three minutes. The lights on the object then went out, and it flew away in a northwesterly direction.'"

"Veritsky believes the UFO brought the radiation levels down and prevented a nuclear explosion."

"Three years later, on September 16, 1989, the Fourth Generating Unit emitted radiation into the atmosphere. Several hours later, a doctor saw an object in the sky above the Chernobyl plant. Dr. Gospina described it as 'amber-like' and said she could see the top and bottom of it clearly."

"In October 1990, V. Nauran, a reporter for the newspaper Echo of Chernobyl, was photographing the machine shop at the Chernobyl plant. He said, 'I photographed the top of it (ceiling--J.T.), including part of the sky above. I remember everything very well. I did not see any UFO at the time. However, when I developed the film, I clearly saw the object that was hovering above that hole in the (machine shop) roof. The object looked like the UFO Dr. Gospina saw.'"

(Many thanks to Michel Heseman and Steve Wilson Sr. for this news story.)

So, who are these extraterrestrials, who possibly prevented the Chernobyl disaster from becoming a major nuclear incident?  As it turns out, this disaster was predicted by the extraterrestrials in the contact case of Orfeo Angelucci, who predicted the exact year in which it occurred 1986, the time of Halley's comet. For this see Extraterrestrial Contact in 1952: the Case of Orfeo Angelucci. I discovered that case after I originally wrote this blog post.

The Untold Truth About Nuclear Energy: Hidden Dangers and Costs of a Deathly Technology

The Untold Truth About Nuclear Energy:
Hidden Dangers and Costs of a Deathly Technology

 https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8109/8530578388_7dd18962e3_k.jpg

By Alexander Light

With more than 430 commercial nuclear power reactors operating in 31 countries, it is paramount to understand the dangers posed to our environment, our health, and - without exaggeration - to our very existence, by nuclear energy.

"Few leaders have held power for more than several decades; the lifespan of most energy agencies is even shorter.

"But the toxicity of high-level waste requires that it be kept out of the biosphere for tens of thousands of years -- longer than recorded history.

"Since reliance on human management for such a long period of time is impossible, most countries have decided to bury their wastes in geologic repositories 300 to 1,200 meters below the earth's surface. Searching for stable sites is the current focus of most disposal programs.

"The characteristics of a good site include unfractured geology so groundwater will not migrate through the area and contaminate water supplies, low seismic activity, and the absence of mineral wealth so future generations will not want to drill in the area." [1]

Each of the 430 nuclear reactors are a deadly risk while active and operating, and an equal risk when they are decommissioned and disposed. All 430 nuclear power reactors provide only about 11% of the world's electricity.

Are nuclear reactors cost-effective?

No, they are not, and here is why:

Everything starts with Uranium mining (a process dangerous for workers, not to mention very expensive as well), continues with Uranium enrichment (very expensive), then nuclear waste management and disposal (very expensive) and finally ends with the plant's decommissioning (the most hazardous and expensive process of all).

The expenses and dangers of decommissioning nuclear power plants:

"In most industries, the disposal of retired plants and equipment is a straightforward and relatively low-cost operation. But the high levels of radiation present in shut-down reactors will make the procedure uniquely complex and costly.

"Some radioactive elements will decay quickly, but others will remain hazardous for millennia. Decommissioning will require remote-controlled technologies and large work crews to limit individual exposure to radiation, as well as comprehensive strategies for safely transporting and disposing of radioactive debris." [2]

"Nuclear plants were designed for a life of about 30-40 years. Newer plants are designed for a 40 to 60-year operating life. (...)

"A wide range of nuclear facilities have been decommissioned so far. This includes nuclear power plants (NPPs), research reactors, isotope production plants, particle accelerators, and uranium mines. The number of decommissioned power plants is small. There are companies specialized in nuclear decommissioning; the practice of decommissioning has turned into a profitable business. Decommissioning is very expensive.

The current estimate by the United Kingdom's Nuclear Decommissioning Authority is that it will cost at least £70 billion to decommission the 19 existing United Kingdom nuclear sites; this takes no account of what will happen in the future. Also, due to the radioactivity in the reactor structure, decommissioning is a slow process which takes place in stages.

The plans of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority for decommissioning reactors have an average 50 year time frame. The long time frame makes reliable cost estimates extremely difficult. Excessive cost overruns are not uncommon even for projects done in a much shorter time frame." (Source).

The Nuclear Waste

"Each year, nuclear power generation facilities worldwide produce about 200,000 m3
of low- and intermediate-level radioactive waste, and about 10,000 m3 of high-level waste including used fuel designated as waste.

In the OECD countries, some 300 million tonnes of toxic wastes are produced each year, but conditioned radioactive wastes amount to only 81,000 m3 per year.

In the UK, for example, the total amount of radioactive waste (including radioactive waste expected to arise from existing nuclear facilities) is about 4.7 million m3, or around 5 million tonnes. A further 1 million m3 has already been disposed." (Source: World-Nuclear).

The nuclear waste is transported and disposed into especially designed storage facilities, usually in poor countries around the planet. After the contract is signed, the storage facilities are built by those who want to get rid of the nuclear waste, plus a solid yearly tax payed to the Government of the country that stores the waste. Again, very cost-ineffective.

Nuclear power in the United States

As of 2011, nuclear power in the United States is provided by 104 commercial reactors
licensed to operate at 65 nuclear power plants, producing a total of 806.2 TWh of electricity, which was (only) 19.6% of the nation's total electric energy generation in 2008.

The United States is the world's largest supplier of commercial nuclear power.

NRC Map, USA

"There has been considerable public and scientific debate about the use of nuclear power in the United States, mainly from the 1960s to the late 1980s, but also since about 2001 when talk of a nuclear renaissance began. There has been debate about issues such as nuclear accidents, radioactive waste disposal, nuclear proliferation, nuclear economics, and nuclear terrorism.

Some scientists and engineers have expressed reservations about nuclear power, including: Barry Commoner, S. David Freeman, John Gofman, Arnold Gundersen, Mark Z. Jacobson, Amory Lovins, Arjun Makhijani, Gregory Minor, and Joseph Romm.

Mark Z. Jacobson, professor of civil and environmental engineering at Stanford University, has said: 'If our nation wants to reduce global warming, air pollution and energy instability, we should invest only in the best energy options. Nuclear energy isn't one of them'. (...)

In February 2012, the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission approved the construction license of the two proposed reactors at the Vogtle plant. NRC Chairman Gregory Jaczko cast the lone dissenting vote on plans to build and operate the two new nuclear power reactors, citing safety concerns stemming from Japan's 2011 Fukushima nuclear disaster, and saying 'I cannot support issuing this license as if Fukushima never happened'.

One week after Southern received the license to begin major construction on the two new reactors, a dozen environmental and anti-nuclear groups are suing to stop the Plant Vogtle expansion project, saying 'public safety and environmental problems since Japan's Fukushima Daiichi nuclear reactor accident have not been taken into account'.

As of March 2012, 23 aging nuclear power plants continue to operate, including some similar in design to those that melted down in Fukushima, such as Vermont Yankee, and Indian Point 2 just 24 miles north of New York City.

Vermont Yankee has reached the end of its projected lifetime operation, but the NRC favors extending its license, despite strong local opposition. On March 22, 2012, more than 1,000 people marched in protest to the plant, and about 130 engaging in civil disobedience were arrested, including 93-year-old anti-nuclear activist Frances Crowe." (Source).

"Decommissioning just one large reactor will yield a volume of contaminated concrete and steel equal to one fourth of the low-level radioactive wastes now shipped to all commercial U.S. nuclear dumpsites in a year.

'Nobody really knows how much all this is going to cost,' said Charles Komanoff, director of Komanoff Energy Associates, a New York-based consulting group. 'Unfortunately with nuclear power, unknowns have a way of becoming very expensive.'

The NRC estimates decommissioning costs for the large, 1100 megawatt plants to be between $125 million and $175 million. Other studies put the cost of decommissioning the hundreds of units in service and under construction around the world at from $50 million to $3 billion per reactor; the latter figure equals the cost of building a modern U.S. facility.

According to NRC spokesman Keith Steyer, "The cost of decommissioning will be covered under the operating costs of the plant, [which are] passed on to the consumer.'

If decommissioning costs, adjusted for inflation, equal only half the original construction price tag, the results could be a 'financial catastrophe,' for the nuclear industry. Komanoff said." [3]

Radio Free Europe (RFE-RL) created a list of old nuclear reactors still in operation, which pose a similar danger as the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear facility: Five nuclear disasters waiting to happen. Three of the treats are located in Russia, UK and USA.

Moving Beyond Nuclear Energy

In my opinion, nuclear energy shouldn't have been taken into account
because it's so dangerous to produce, it has a very long term & hazardous waste disposal and reactor decommissioning, and overall is very cost-ineffective.

At the same time, we have the opportunity, the financial means and the motivation to harness clean and infinite energy from the Sun.

Germany Proves that IT CAN BE DONE!

After the Fukushima nuclear disaster, Germany saw massive anti-nuclear protests, which determined Germany's coalition government to announce a reversal of policy, that will see all the country's nuclear power plants phased out by 2022.

Here is an excerpt of a May 30, 2011 BBC News article:

"The decision makes Germany the biggest industrial power to announce plans to give up nuclear energy. (...) Mr Rottgen said the seven oldest reactors - which were taken offline for a safety review immediately after the Japanese crisis - would never be used again. An eighth plant - the Kruemmel facility in northern Germany, which was already offline and has been plagued by technical problems, would also be shut down for good.

Six others would go offline by 2021 at the latest and the three newest by 2022, he said.

Mr Rottgen said: 'It's definite. The latest end for the last three nuclear power plants is 2022. There will be no clause for revision.'

Shaun Burnie, nuclear adviser for environmental campaign group Greenpeace International, told the BBC World Service that Germany had already invested heavily in renewable energy.

'The various studies from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change show that renewables could deliver, basically, global electricity by 2050,' he said.

'Germany is going to be ahead of the game on that and it is going to make a lot of money, so the message to Germany's industrial competitors is that you can base your energy policy not on nuclear, not on coal, but on renewable'."

And the German government kept its word until now, as Germany recently became the world leader of solar-power:

Germany’s solar power plants produced a record 22 gigawatts of energy on Friday, equivalent to the output of 20 nuclear plants.

The director of the Institute of the Renewable Energy Industry (IWR) in Muenster, northeast Germany, said the solar power delivered to the national grid on Saturday met 50 per cent of the nation’s energy quota.

(AFP Photo / Johannes Eisele)

'Never before anywhere has a country produced as much photovoltaic electricity. Germany came close to the 20 gigawatt (GW) mark a few times in recent weeks. But this was the first time we made it over,' Norbert Allnoch told Reuters news agency."

Germany took the first step and showed us all that it can be done. Now, the time has come for all countries to start investing in clean and sustainable energy, and it's our job to make them understand that we, the people, have a say in this.

Update: German Village Produces 321% More Green Energy Than It Needs (Annual profit = $5.7 million). Spread the word, join the activists (NIRS, BeyondNuclear)opposing nuclear power and nuclear weapons in your country, and more importantly, bring your own contribution.
