The Stargate Project: Psychic Warriors and the CIA

The Stargate Project: Psychic Warriors and the CIA

Metaphysical and psychic phenomena have long existed on the fringes of conventional science and academia. ESP, Clairvoyance, Telekinesis and Astral traveling have all been relegated to the back seat of mainstream, accepted belief systems in spite of an extensive mention of these practices down the ages, across myriad cultures. It has always been challenging for practitioners of the science to be validated by the prevailing status quo.

That however changed in 1995 when the CIA declassified a top secret program that had been training individuals in the esoteric science of 'Remote Viewing' in which, it was claimed, people were able to envision ongoing activities in distant places and future events.

Although reminiscent of a Sci-Fi yarn, Remote viewing was tested and deployed under rigorous scientific conditions to obtain data about foreign espionage activities, counter terrorism efforts, secret military bases abroad and hidden missiles. It recognized the inherent psychic potential in humans and attempted to harness these special faculties or 'powers' for the purposes of intelligence gathering, often of a vital nature.

The initial testing was done at the Stanford Research Institute (SRI) where extensive investigations were carried out into the human mind's capacity to transcend all bounds of time and space. SRI's research was supported by the CIA and other government agencies for over two decades.

Russell Targ, Hal Puthoff and Ingo Swann were the original founders of this once-secret program. Their task was to learn to understand psychic abilities, and to use these abilities to gather information about the Soviet Union during the Cold War. They found from years of experience that people can quickly learn to do remote viewing, and can frequently incorporate this direct knowing of the world -- both present and future -- into their lives.

They were the original 'Psi Spies' named after the title of Jim Marrs' exhaustive study of the phenomenon. The project produced some remarkable results. Among them were detailed renderings of secret Soviet bases, the whereabouts of Red Brigade terrorism hostages in Italy, location of victims in the Israeli hostage crisis, locations of Scud missiles during the first Gulf War and even the impending attack on the Twin Towers in NY! (done by a private contractor and ignored until after the event). The program eventually came to be called 'Operation Stargate'.

The initial media flurry (Ted Koppel's Nightline, ABC, The Washington Post, The New York Times, etc.) that surrounded the declassification in 1995 uncovered some surprising details. The names that surfaced at the time were of Ingo Swann, who initially helmed the project, Dr.Russell Targ, Pat Price, Dr. Hal Puthoff, Joseph McMoneagle and others, an interesting group comprised of respected senior military personnel, path breaking scientists and academic luminaries. On ABC's Nightline, one of the operatives, Joe McMoneagle was put to the test by none other than Ted Koppel. He was able to prove the authenticity of the system with flying colors.

Remote viewers can often contact, experience and describe a hidden object, or a remote natural or architectural site, based on the presence of a cooperative person at the distant location, or when given geographical coordinates, or some other target demarcation -- which they call an 'address'.  Shape, form and color are described much more reliably than the target's name, function, or other analytical information. In addition to vivid visual imagery, viewers sometimes describe associated feelings, sounds, smells and even electrical or magnetic fields.  Blueprint accuracy has occasionally been achieved in these double-blind experiments, and reliability in a series can be as high as 80 per cent.

Case Studies

In 1984 Targ organized a pair of successful 10,000-mile remote viewing experiments between Moscow and San Francisco with famed Russian healer Djuna Davitashvili.  Djuna's task was to describe where a colleague would be hiding in San Francisco. She had to focus her attention ten thousand miles to the west and two hours into the future to correctly describe his location. These experiments were performed under the auspices and control of the USSR Academy of Sciences.  Djuna hit the mark on all counts and the experiment was declared a resounding success.

Ten years earlier, in 1974, Russell Targ and his colleague Hal Puthoff carried out a demonstration of psychic abilities for the CIA. Pat Price, a retired police commissioner, described the inside and outside of a secret Soviet weapons laboratory in the far reaches of Siberia -- given only the geographical coordinates of latitude and longitude for a reference. (That is, with no on- site cooperation.) This trial was such a stunning success that they were forced to undergo a formal Congressional investigation to determine if there had been a breach in National Security. Of course, none was ever found, and the government supported them for another fifteen years.

Data from these formal and controlled SRI investigations were highly statistically significant (thousands of times greater than chance expectation), and have been published in the world's most prestigious journals, such as Nature, The Proceedings of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, and The Proceedings of the American Academy of Sciences. The twenty years of remote viewing research conducted for the CIA is outlined in ‘Miracles of Mind: Exploring Non-local Consciousness and Spiritual Healing', co-authored by Targ and Katra.

Recent research in areas as different as distant healing and quantum physics are in agreement with the oldest spiritual teachings of the sages of India, who taught that "separation is an illusion." The powers we are discovering now are described by Rishis as 'Siddhis', or fruits of deep penance and arcane Yogic techniques, verbally transmitted, only known to inner circles.

The military and institutional exploitation of this timeless phenomenon is alarming. It is being harnessed by world governments in a game of cosmic brinkmanship, none of whom can possibly know the complete ramifications of unleashing such latently devastating forces without comprehending the holistic nature of the universe and interconnectedness of all life.

What is remarkable however, is the fact that the cat is out of the bag finally with regard to parapsychology, metaphysics and the occult. The so-called 'mainstream' has not only recognized the stunning potential of psychic energy but has gone so far as to harness it for territorial one-upmanship. The human race only needs to realize the vast reserves of raw power that it has at its disposal to effect profound and genuine transformation of the human condition on a global scale.

The Real History of Remote Viewing

http://www.irva.org/images/img2002Speakers.jpg
Russell Targ, Ingo Swann, Stephan Schwartz, and Hal Puthoff

The facts regarding Remote Viewing History have become a controversial issue over the past decade.

When Psi Tech first introduced Remote Viewing to the public in 1989 nobody, except for only a few who were intimately involved, knew of its existence and that is where the confusion began.

There were PSI researchers from the 70s who had some experience with early involvement researching psychic phenomena and even though they did witness some interesting results, they did not discover anything very new or any great breakthroughs. However, a few years later, world renowned physicist, Hal Puthoff picked up the ball again and was granted $50,000 to conduct his own investigation to find a way to train people to become psychic. He began working solely with New York psychic, Ingo Swann. The two discovered the working remote viewing protocols which were then taken from them in 1983 by US Army Intelligence and put to the test by a small operational unit which consisted of only a few trained individuals.

The Remote Viewing unit was housed under the directorate of the Defense Intelligence Agency at Fort Meade. Ingo Swan and Hal Puthoff were no longer involved and only a very select few knew of the units existence. The group was tasked with real world targets and they did provide useful adjunct Intel in many life and death crisis situations. Towards the end of the 80's word began to trickle out around the Intelligence community about this strange group of army Intel gatherers and people who did not understand it, grew suspicious and afraid.

In 1988 a turnover of administration caused the unit to fall into a disarray of administrators, so one General, one Major and one Colonel took the initiative to usher the RV technology into the private sector by forming a corporation that would pledge to keep the technology unadulterated and pure, Psi Tech was formed in 1989 to accomplish this mission.

Normally, privatizing a classified top secret technology would be against army policy but influential folks in high places had witnessed the technology's effectiveness and feared that it would be lost when the unit fell into chaos.

Psi Tech continued to work for government agencies as a private consulting company and in 1991 moved from Washington DC to Albuquerque, New Mexico

In 1994, Jonina Dourif became Psi Tech's Vice President and Psi Tech relocated from its headquarters in New Mexico to Beverly Hills, California. Shortly afterwards, Psi Tech also opened a satellite office on the island of Maui in the state of Hawaii.

As the civilian sector learned of this new phenomenal technique that could train anybody to be more consistently accurate then the worlds best psychics, many opportunists began making similar claims and selling fraudulent training systems. The market place has since become littered with hundreds of false Remote Viewing methods and many deceptive Remote Viewers' claims.

Psi Tech maintains that there is only "one Method" and anybody who claims otherwise is selling you a lie or their version of Remote Viewing. Psi Tech initially trained everybody in the civilian sector and some early students, like Courtney Brown, formed their own schools and changed what he learned to market his own version of the original TRV protocols.

Psi Tech does not endorse people who change the TRV protocols before they have even become proficient Remote Viewers in the original protocols they were taught. This would be the equivalent of having a person who only just learned to fly an airplane become a master instructor. Unfortunately, the spread of inexperienced teachers of remote viewing have created a polluted marketplace littered with unskilled practitioners who do not represent the true effectiveness of this very valuable and powerful technology.

And as if the waters weren't muddied enough, there is also the problem of the pre-discovery researchers from the 70's who surfaced to cash in on the Remote Viewing fad that was underway. But they are selling older versions of Remote Viewing before the breakthrough discovery of the protocols in the early 80's.

It is important to distinguish the difference between the "RV research program" which was funded by the CIA that involved Ed May & Joe McMoneagle, Russell Targ & Keith Herary and the Super Secret "RV Operational Unit" which was initiated by INSCOM and coveted under the umbrella of the DIA to utilize the discovered protocols. The latter was funded by the US ARMY and was initially run under the supervision of General Albert Stubblebine then handed off to General Edwin Thompson and then, passed over to Dr. Jack Verona. Under Jack Verona the unit fell into chaos when civilian administrators (such as Dale Graff) brought in tarot card readers and channellers to work with the trained remote viewers. It was at this point that the operational unit split up and the trained RVers went to work for Psi Tech.

In 1990 "CIA research" picked the Remote Viewing unit up and named it "Stargate." They hired Ray Hyman and Jessica Utts as professional research evaluators to assess the Remote Viewing program. Although there were no trained Remote viewers left the CIA conducted the study as a strategy in order to document the evaluation as "minimally effective" and then to mount a damage control campaign in the public as a responsive action to a book that Psi Tech was about to release through Random House.

The funny part is that Psi Tech stopped the release of the book at the last minute while the CIA"s damage control campaign was already under way. The public first saw the CIA's public relations campaign about the declassification of their Remote Viewing research with Joe McMoneagle, Jessica Utts and Ray Hyman on Night line hosted by Ted Koppel in 1995.

Remote Viewing historical facts are still quashed by some who want to maintain a premise that the "RV OPs unit" and the "RV Research Program" program were one and the same but this is not the case at all. Joe McMoneagle, who was the main test subject for the "RV research program", did not even know about the "RV operational unit" until he was paraded on TV in 1995 by the CIA's public relations damage control campaign. (Note: that is why he did not know who Psi Tech was then).

The facts are contradicted and remain unclear to the public partially because of people's basic lack of knowledge of Military protocols and the Intelligence communities strategies of compartmentalization.

The DIA's Operational unit has still not been officially declassified but General Albert Stubblebine has spoken of the RV Operations publicly (which you can read here) and General Edwin Thompson, Colonel John Alexander, Dr, Hal Puthoff, Ingo Swan and Senator Norm Dix have spoken about it publicly also in a BBC documentary titled "The Real X-Files" which has played numerous times in the U.S. on the Discovery Channel. Because of their candid truthfulness, one can say that the Remote Viewing Operational Unit has been "unofficially declassified".

Psi Tech'continues to forge forward revealing the true history of this break through technology and teaching the original protocols in their most effective form because we believe as our founders did that we hold the seed of a new evolution of consciousness.

P.S. INSCOM was important because it was INSCOM that secretly started and asked for funding for the "RV OPs UNIT" as opposed to the "RV Research Program."

  2. What does V2K have to do with the article? Are there any active operations in San Francisco? All interesting, I've heard whispered rumors that more pragmatic applications are being experimented in SF by what maybe pagan organizations or splinter groups w ithin pagan organizations.
